Shimamura Co., Ltd. booked consolidated net sales of ¥357.26bn for the six months to August 20, 2026, up 4.0% from the same period a year earlier, with operating profit up 5.3% to ¥33.13bn. Ordinary profit rose 7.3% to ¥34.95bn, and profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 5.6% to ¥24.19bn.
Management's account of the retail backdrop is more cautious than the profit line suggests. The company points to a 5.01% wage-growth rate and rising disposable income, but says apparel remains a battleground of fierce price competition and consumer thrift. Wet weather and repeated typhoons from June through mid-July also slowed demand for summer clothing; after the rainy season ended, nationwide heat took hold, and in August several regions saw sudden heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Faster growth came from smaller formats: the Avail discount chain rose 7.5% to ¥37.49bn across 323 stores, the Chambre home-goods chain rose 19.5% to ¥9.90bn across 125 stores, and the Taiwan business grew 17.2% to NT$1,094 million (¥5.45bn) across 45 stores.
Shimamura left its full-year guidance unchanged: sales of ¥729.19bn, operating profit of ¥66.84bn and net profit of ¥47.32bn for the year to February 2027, matching the forecast it published on March 30, 2026. The company also affirmed its dividend forecast of ¥80.00 per share on a post-split basis, unchanged from its most recently announced figure.
