VRAIN Solution says its AI visual and 3D shape-measurement inspection system has been adopted for a project at a domestic site of a large semiconductor-ceramics maker. The project aims to digitalise manufacturing processes and sharpen product inspection. The customer is unnamed, and the earnings release gives no contract value or delivery timetable.
Half-year numbers
Sales for March to August 2026 were ¥1.88bn, up 80.0% on a year earlier. Operating profit was ¥409mn against ¥95mn, and net profit was ¥267mn, up 336.2%. Order backlog at the end of August was ¥1.31bn, and cumulative customers reached 394, which the company's results presentation puts at 57 more than at the previous year-end.
Capacity added
The company opened a Kanazawa sales office, which began operating on July 1, and a Nagoya factory, and kept hiring. It had 173 employees at the end of August.
The margin cost
Gross margin was 76.2%, against 80.4% a year earlier, a fall of 4.2 points. The presentation attributes this to a mix of physical-AI and large-equipment orders, and describes the physical-AI orders as a deliberate choice to build know-how. The company also repaid ¥400mn of short-term borrowing. Cash fell to ¥138mn from ¥427mn, and the equity ratio rose to 82.6%.
Guidance
VRAIN left its full-year forecast unchanged at sales of ¥4.823bn and operating profit of ¥1.449bn. Those are forecasts, not completed sales. The presentation lists Utsunomiya, Nagano, Hiroshima and Fukuoka as sales offices still to open.
