Oncolys BioPharma Inc. (TSE: 4588) said Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has scheduled a general meeting of the Central Social Insurance Medical Council, known as Chuikyo, to deliberate the proposed national health insurance price for Telomelysin Injection, an oncolytic virus therapy developed under the code OBP-301. The company filed the notice on August 5, 2026.
The Chuikyo meeting follows manufacturing and marketing approval that Oncolys received from the health ministry on June 8, 2026. The approved indication covers esophageal cancer in patients who are not candidates for curative surgical resection or chemoradiotherapy.
Oncolys says it still intends to begin selling Telomelysin Injection within the fiscal year ending December 2026, as originally planned. The company has not disclosed a proposed price for the drug, and the notice does not specify when Chuikyo will reach a final determination.
On the number that matters most to shareholders, Oncolys is candid about what it does not yet know. The company says the impact of the pricing outcome on its results for the year to December 2026 is still under internal review. That admission reflects a real constraint: reimbursement pricing sets the revenue ceiling for a single-product launch, so a company of Oncolys's size cannot responsibly forecast profit before the price is fixed.
The filing lists executive officer Kohei Hata as the contact for inquiries, alongside representative director and president Yasuo Urata. Neither the timing of Chuikyo's final price decision nor the proposed price itself appears in the disclosure; both remain open questions for a company whose commercial future now depends on a number the health ministry has yet to set.
