Mitsui Chemicals says it is weighing options including JSR, but has decided nothing

Mitsui Chemicals said it is studying various options to raise corporate value, including the reported JSR acquisition, but that nothing has been decided and the press reports did not come from the company.

Two industrial process vessels linked by a pipe with a closed valve, suggesting a combination under consideration but not yet decided.

Mitsui Chemicals said on 4 November 2026 that it is examining a range of options to raise corporate value, and that this includes the JSR matter, but that "there are no facts decided at this point."

What the company said

In a notice headed "Regarding certain media reports about the company", the TSE Prime-listed chemicals maker addressed reports from some media outlets that it would acquire JSR. It said the reports were not announced by the company and were not based on information from it.

The company did not deny that JSR is under consideration. It said it is true that it is conducting various studies for the purpose of raising corporate value, and that these include this matter.

What is not there

The notice gives no price, structure, counterparty terms or timetable. It describes no agreement with JSR and does not say when a decision might come. Readers should treat the acquisition as a media report that the company has partly acknowledged as under study, not as a transaction.
