Kansai Paint completes $93mn purchase of the rest of its Turkish affiliate

Kansai Paint now owns all of Polisan Kansai Boya after paying $93mn for the other half, and a capital injection to repay the Turkish unit's debt is next; the profit effect is still unquantified.

Kansai Paint has closed its purchase of the remaining half of Polisan Kansai Boya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (PKB), taking its voting-rights stake in the Turkish affiliate from 50.0% to 100.0%. The company said share transfer and payment of the consideration were completed on 27 October 2026.

The terms

The acquisition price was $93mn for the 50.0% block. PKB had been an equity-method affiliate, and it now becomes a consolidated subsidiary. Kansai Paint's completion notice, dated 28 October 2026, follows its 29 July 2026 announcement of the deal, and the notice gives no further price detail beyond the headline figure.

What comes next

Kansai Paint expects to book a gain on step acquisition as an extraordinary profit in its consolidated results for the year ending March 2027. The company said the size of that gain, and the wider effect on consolidated results, is still being assessed and is undecided.

The company also plans to move quickly, after the required procedures, to increase PKB's capital. The stated purpose is to repay PKB's existing interest-bearing debt. The notice does not give the amount of that debt or of the planned capital increase, so the full cash commitment to the Turkish business is not yet clear from the disclosure.

Kansai Paint said it will announce any further matters requiring disclosure promptly.
