Capcom's sales rose 49.0% to ¥120.9bn in the six months to 30 September, and operating profit rose 54.5% to ¥60.8bn, according to its interim earnings report. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent was ¥43.1bn, up 56.6%.
Units drive the gain
The digital content business sold 36.86mn units across 260 titles in 239 countries and regions, against 23.85mn a year earlier. Segment sales were ¥85.1bn, up 70.8%, and segment operating profit was ¥52.3bn.
Two new releases contributed. Pragmata, a new franchise launched in April, sold 2.7mn copies worldwide. Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the first instalment of its series in 20 years, sold 1.7mn, taking the series to 11mn cumulative sales.
Back catalogue did more of the work. Repeat titles sold 32.18mn units, up from 22.85mn. Capcom said a flagship series title released in February passed 8mn cumulative copies, helped by price measures. Those are cumulative figures, not first-half sales.
A lighter cost base
The prior-year first half carried ¥2.45bn of social contribution costs in non-operating expenses, of which ¥2.443bn related to the Expo. This year the line was ¥19mn, all donations. Ordinary profit rose 67.5% to ¥61.2bn, faster than operating profit.
Amusement facilities sales rose 26.2% to ¥15.7bn and amusement equipment sales rose 8.9% to ¥16.5bn. Other businesses fell 4.7% to ¥3.5bn.
Guidance unchanged
Capcom left its forecast for the year to March 2027 as set on 13 May 2026: sales of ¥210bn, operating profit of ¥83bn and net profit of ¥58bn. It will pay an interim dividend of ¥23 per share. The earnings report is not subject to auditor review.
