Yamaichi Electronics to Build ¥6.5bn Fourth Factory in the Philippines

Yamaichi Electronics will spend about ¥6.5bn on a fourth Philippine factory, at roughly 30,000 square meters bigger than its existing three plants combined, to assemble semiconductor test sockets and connectors for AI-server, automotive and industrial demand it expects to grow, though the plant will not open until the second half of the fiscal year ending March 2029.

Yamaichi Electronics' board approved construction of a fourth factory at its Philippine subsidiary, Pricon Microelectronics, on September 18, 2026, committing roughly ¥6.5bn to a plant that will not be finished for two more years.

The new building will sit at Light Industry & Science Park IV in Malvar, Batangas, next to Yamaichi's existing third factory. It will be three stories and cover about 30,000 square meters, which is larger than the company's first three Philippine plants combined: 8,951 square meters, 6,408 square meters and 7,484 square meters respectively.

The plant's stated purpose is assembly of semiconductor test sockets, connectors and related products. Yamaichi says the design will optimize production flow for quality and safety, expand in-house parts production to improve quality, cost and delivery, add automation and robotics, and install solar power generation.

The company frames the expansion around medium- to long-term demand growth it expects across the semiconductor market, automotive, communications including AI servers, and industrial equipment. That is Yamaichi's own read on future orders, not an independently verified forecast.

Construction is scheduled to start in February 2027, with the building completed and handed over by the end of September 2028 and operations beginning in the second half of the fiscal year ending March 2029. The ¥6.5bn investment total covers the building and equipment and incidental costs but excludes relocation expenses for existing factories. Yamaichi has not quantified the impact on consolidated earnings and says it will disclose further details if matters requiring disclosure arise.
