Money Forward made an operating profit of ¥1.69bn in the nine months to August 2026, against a ¥1.98bn loss a year earlier. The company left its full-year operating guidance unchanged, at a range from a ¥500mn loss to a ¥1.5bn profit.
The nine-month swing
Sales rose 32.9% to ¥46.9bn. SaaS annual recurring revenue (ARR) reached ¥48.6bn, up 29.7%. Adjusted EBITDA was ¥9.9bn, against ¥3.3bn a year earlier. Ordinary profit was ¥328mn, and profit attributable to owners of the parent was ¥498mn, against a ¥3.38bn loss.
A one-off in the mix
The Finance segment helped. Its venture capital arm, HIRAC FUND, sold one unlisted holding and booked ¥2.13bn of operating securities sales. The segment made a profit of ¥1.46bn. In the third quarter alone, the company's presentation reports a record operating profit of ¥1.90bn and credits Finance segment sales of ¥2.14bn. Excluding HIRAC FUND, third-quarter EBITDA was ¥3.0bn, a 19.0% margin, up 7.3 percentage points from a year earlier.
Guidance left alone
The earnings release says the forecast is unchanged from the revision announced on 13 July 2026 and gives no reason for holding the range. Full-year sales are guided at ¥60.5bn to ¥62.3bn and adjusted EBITDA at ¥10.5bn to ¥11.5bn. The net result is guided at a loss of ¥3.2bn to ¥700mn.
The cumulative sales, ARR and third-quarter figures above are different measures and should not be read across.
