Kanaden lifts interim forecasts on data-centre power gear and chip tools

Kanaden lifted its interim sales forecast to ¥69.3bn from ¥63bn and operating profit to ¥1.95bn, crediting AI and data-centre demand across chip equipment, switchgear and power systems, while full-year guidance is still under review.

Kanaden (TSE Prime: 8081) raised its forecasts for the six months to September 2026, and named the businesses it says are driving the gap. Interim sales are now guided at ¥69.3bn, against a previous forecast of ¥63bn.

The revised numbers

Operating profit is now forecast at ¥1.95bn, up from ¥1.7bn. Ordinary profit moves to ¥2.1bn from ¥1.8bn. Profit attributable to owners of the parent is guided at ¥1.4bn, up from ¥1.2bn, and interim earnings per share at ¥62.78, against ¥53.83 before. The company put the increases at 10.0% for sales, 14.7% for operating profit and 16.7% each for ordinary and net profit.

For comparison, the company's own table lists the same period a year earlier at ¥61.66bn in sales and ¥1.68bn in operating profit.

Where the company says demand came from

Kanaden attributes the upgrade to steady AI and data-centre demand. In its FA systems business, it says semiconductor manufacturing equipment and power distribution panels grew. In building facilities, it says power equipment for data centres performed well.

A third driver sits outside the data-centre story: in the semiconductor and devices business, Wi-Fi modules for household electrical appliances did well. The notice ties all three to results running above the original forecast.

Full year unchanged, for now

The company left its full-year forecast for the year to March 2027 at the figures it published on 13 May 2026, saying the outlook is under review. It said it would announce a revision if one is needed once that review ends.

The interim figures are forecasts, not reported results, and the notice carries the standard caveat that actual results may differ because of various factors. It gives no figure for how much each business contributed to the increase.
