Hodogaya Chemical said its Korean consolidated subsidiary SFC CO., LTD. obtained approval from the Korea Exchange (KRX) on 15 October 2026 for a new listing on the KOSPI market. SFC then filed a securities registration statement with Korea's Financial Supervisory Service on 19 October 2026.
The approval follows the exchange's preliminary review and other prescribed procedures, according to Hodogaya's disclosure. It builds on Hodogaya's earlier announcements of the listing application, dated 30 September 2025 and 27 July 2026. Earlier coverage is here: Earlier Tokyo Brief coverage.
Why Hodogaya wants the listing
Hodogaya describes SFC as a company founded in 1998 that has expanded rapidly through its own technology and close ties with market-leading customers. Its strengths are organic EL and blue-light-emitting materials.
Hodogaya expects demand to grow as OLED displays, now driven mainly by smartphones, spread to mid-sized screens such as tablets and PCs. Meeting that demand will require various investments, the company said. A listing, in its view, would give SFC flexibility in raising funds for planned production-capacity expansion. It also expects greater name recognition to help SFC keep recruiting talented staff and push on with research into new materials. These are Hodogaya's expectations, not results.
What is still open
The notice gives no listing date, offering size or proceeds. Hodogaya said the planned timing will be announced once it is fixed, and that it will disclose further developments as warranted.
Hodogaya said the listing assumes SFC remains an important consolidated subsidiary of the group afterwards. It believes the listing will add to group corporate value.
