Coconala's two reporting segments moved in opposite directions in the year to August 2026. Group sales rose 9.6% to ¥10.32bn and operating profit rose 92.4% to ¥492.7mn, from ¥256.1mn a year earlier.
Agent up, marketplace down
The agent segment, which includes the Coconala Assist subscription service and Coconala Tech, lifted sales 26.0% to ¥4.65bn. It earned a segment profit of ¥100.4mn, against a loss of ¥278.9mn the previous year. The company also bought an SES staffing business on March 2, 2026.
The marketplace segment went the other way. Sales fell 1.0% to ¥5.67bn and segment profit dropped 29.4% to ¥392.3mn. Gross merchandise volume for the group fell 2.0% to ¥16.88bn.
AI integrations live, Acrosstudio pending
Two AI integrations are already in service. Coconala for ChatGPT and an order-drafting assistant launched in June 2026, and support for Anthropic's Claude began in August. The company calls the ChatGPT app a first among service-provision platforms in Japan. The earnings release gives no usage or revenue figures for either.
The Acrosstudio purchase is not done. The board approved it on October 7, 2026, and a share transfer agreement was signed the same day. Closing is planned for October 30. Coconala will pay ¥867mn in cash for 51% of the AI consulting and development firm, plus roughly ¥5mn in advisory costs. Goodwill and the acquired assets and liabilities are not yet determined.
Outlook
For the year to August 2027, Coconala guides to sales of ¥13.0bn, up 26.0%, and operating profit of ¥600mn, up 21.8%. It plans no dividend.
