Capcom's New Sci-Fi IP and Aging Hits Both Deliver in Strong Quarter

Capcom's operating profit rose 66.9% in the April-June quarter as new sci-fi title Pragmata topped 2.5 million copies sold and a six-year-old Devil May Cry 5 crossed 14 million units on a fresh Switch 2 port, while full-year guidance stayed unchanged at ¥210.0bn in sales.

Capcom's revenue for the three months to June 30, 2026, rose 54.7% year on year to ¥70.41bn, with operating profit up 66.9% to ¥41.05bn and net profit attributable to shareholders up 69.2% to ¥29.16bn. The Digital Contents division sold 256 titles across 236 countries and regions, moving 23.81 million game units against 14.16 million a year earlier.

Two different kinds of releases did the work, and they are not the same age. Pragmata, Capcom's first fully new intellectual property in years, launched in April on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, and has already sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide. Resident Evil Requiem, which came out in February, has sold 8 million copies since launch on continued promotional pricing, a fast pace for a title only months old. Devil May Cry 5, by contrast, dates to 2019 and only now crossed 14 million cumulative units, helped by a Nintendo Switch 2 port and tie-in pricing linked to its Netflix anime adaptation. A separate Switch 2 edition of Devil May Cry 5 arrived in June as part of a wider push to spread flagship series across every current platform.

Digital Contents sales rose 83.0% to ¥54.65bn, with segment operating profit up 87.5% to ¥37.60bn. Capcom's smaller businesses moved less dramatically: amusement facility sales rose 20.6% to ¥6.76bn even as operating profit slipped 4.4% to ¥899mn, and the amusement equipment unit, which sold 17,000 units of a new Resident Evil-themed pachislot machine, saw sales fall 9.1% to ¥7.10bn and profit drop 17.6% to ¥4.05bn.

Capcom left its full-year guidance unchanged at ¥210.0bn in sales and ¥83.0bn in operating profit, the same targets set at its May 13 earnings announcement. Management is counting on a Monster Hunter Wilds expansion due in 2027 and continued esports tie-ins for Street Fighter 6 to keep the momentum through the rest of the year.
