Oasis Management has lifted its stake in Nichirei to 7.27% from 6.07% through near-daily on-market buying since July, and discloses ¥35.55bn as its total funding for the whole 18.68mn-share position; the activist fund is now pressing the frozen-food group on board composition, dividends and capital policy, with room to buy over 5 percentage points more within three months.
Nichirei says personal information stored on some breached servers was exposed and is notifying those affected, while still withholding how the attack happened as it works with police and outside security specialists.
Nichirei confirmed a cyberattack on its servers and shut down group IT systems, halting refrigerated warehouse handling and frozen-food shipments while it checks whether customer data leaked.
