UMC Electronics (TSE: 6615, also listed on the Nagoya Stock Exchange Main Market) said the Tokyo Stock Exchange has approved its move from the Prime market to the Standard market, effective September 8, 2026. The exchange separately notified the company on September 1 that it will lift the "security under supervision (examination in progress)" designation, effective September 2, 2026, that it had applied to UMC's stock since April 1, 2026.
The segment change closes out a compliance effort that started in June 2023, when UMC filed a plan aimed at meeting Prime's listing-maintenance standards. The company kept investors updated with progress disclosures in June 2024, March 2025, June 2025 and March 2026. With the Standard-market move now approved, UMC withdrew that Prime compliance plan as of September 1, 2026, the date of its announcement.
UMC said the reclassification does not change its growth strategy or management policy. It listed four continuing priorities: improving business performance, shareholder returns, corporate governance, and IR disclosure. Trading in UMC shares continues without interruption, moving to the Standard market from September 8.
The filing does not detail why the supervision designation was applied in April or why it is being lifted now beyond noting the TSE's own published notice on the matter, which the company refers investors to via the Japan Exchange Group website.
