Tsugami lifts first-half net profit forecast by more than a third and raises interim dividend forecast to ¥61

Tsugami now expects first-half operating profit of ¥25.2bn, up from ¥19.5bn, citing China and India, and has raised its interim dividend forecast by ¥12 to ¥61 while holding the year-end forecast at ¥49 until full-year guidance on November 12.

Tsugami, the Tokyo Prime-listed machine tool maker, has raised its forecast for the six months to September 2026 across sales, operating profit and net profit, and raised its interim dividend forecast. The company published the revision in a notice dated October 20, 2026, amending the forecasts it gave on May 13.

The revised numbers

Tsugami now expects first-half sales revenue of ¥81.2bn, against a prior forecast of ¥75.0bn, an increase of 8.3%. Operating profit is forecast at ¥25.2bn, up 29.2% from ¥19.5bn. Profit attributable to owners of the parent is forecast at ¥12.3bn, up 36.7% from ¥9.0bn. Basic earnings per share are now forecast at ¥268.13, against ¥196.01 before.

These percentages measure the change from the earlier forecast. They are not year-on-year growth rates. The notice gives last year's first-half actuals for reference: sales revenue of ¥60.1bn, operating profit of ¥15.2bn and attributable profit of ¥7.1bn.

Why management says it raised them

Tsugami says the market as a whole remains uncertain. It adds that it steadily advanced business at its sites, including in the Chinese and Indian markets, and that this puts sales and profit above the earlier forecast. The notice names no other markets or products and gives no breakdown by region. These are forecasts, not reported results. Tsugami says the figures rest on information available on the notice date and that actual results may differ.

Dividend: interim forecast up, year-end held

The interim dividend forecast rises by ¥12 to ¥61 a share from ¥49. Tsugami says its basic policy is to keep a sound financial position while returning cash to shareholders steadily, and that the dividend forecast increase follows the higher profit forecast.

The year-end dividend forecast stays at ¥49. Tsugami says it is keeping the earlier figure because it will announce the year-end payout together with the full-year earnings forecast, which it is still reviewing. The annual dividend forecast is now ¥110, against ¥98 before and ¥85 paid for the year to March 2026.

Next checkpoint

The notice gives no full-year forecast for the year to March 2027. Tsugami says it will publish one, based on market trends, with its first-half results, scheduled for November 12.
