Tera Probe's August Sales Growth Cools to 50% After a 62.6% July

Tera Probe's preliminary August sales rose 50% year on year to ¥5.52bn, slower than July's 62.6% jump, while its cumulative eight-month sales climbed 47% to ¥38.43bn, the fastest year-to-date rate the chip tester has posted this year; the company flagged the figures as preliminary and subject to revision.

Tera Probe, Inc. (TSE Standard: 6627) said preliminary consolidated sales for August came to ¥5.52bn, up 50.0% from a year earlier. That is a clear step down from July, when monthly sales grew 62.6% to ¥5.60bn, the fastest single-month expansion the company has disclosed so far this fiscal year.

Even with the August slowdown, Tera Probe's cumulative sales through August reached ¥38.43bn, up 47.0% from the same period a year earlier. That cumulative growth rate has climbed every month this year, from 34.3% in January to 43.6% at the end of June and 46.5% at the end of July, so the underlying business has not lost ground for the year even though the pace of a single month eased.

The company filed the figures with Japan's exchange disclosure system on September 15 and labeled them preliminary, noting they may be revised in later disclosures. Tera Probe did not attribute the growth, or the August deceleration, to specific end markets or customers in the filing, and the sales figures say nothing about profitability or capacity utilization at its testing plants.
