Nomura Micro Science has cut its forecasts for the six months to September 2026, but left its guidance for full-year sales and operating profit untouched. The revision, issued on 23 October, replaces the outlook the company published on 14 May.
Half-year: timing and margin
The company now expects half-year sales of ¥24.18bn, down from ¥34.5bn, a cut of 29.9%. Operating profit is forecast at ¥1.132bn rather than ¥3.6bn, down 68.5%.
Two causes are given. A large US water-treatment order that management had expected in the first half is now expected in the second half, which lowers sales. Separately, costs rose on a large Korean water-treatment project that the company has already won, which pulls profit below the May forecast. The notice describes the US item as a delay in timing and does not name customers.
Below the operating line the picture is worse. Ordinary profit is now forecast at a loss of ¥141mn against ¥2.65bn previously, and net profit at a loss of ¥91mn against ¥1.961bn.
Full year: operating guide held, lower profit forecasts below it
Full-year sales stay at ¥97bn and operating profit at ¥16bn. The company cites healthy inquiries in each region and expects progress-based revenue from the US project in the second half.
Ordinary profit is lowered to ¥14bn from ¥15bn, and net profit to ¥10.36bn from ¥11.1bn, both down 6.7%. The company attributes that to a review of interest payments on borrowings and other items. The notice gives no breakdown of the interest cost. It says it will announce a further revision promptly if one becomes necessary.
