Nidec said on 16 October 2026 that it has received the report of its officer-liability investigation committee, the body set up to examine whether current and former directors, corporate auditors or executive officers are legally responsible for the group's accounting misconduct. The release does not state what the committee concluded.
The committee was announced on 13 March 2026. Its remit covers whether any of those officers neglected their duties in carrying out their jobs, and the wider question of legal responsibility. The company's own announcement gives no finding on either point, so receipt of the report does not establish liability.
What happens next
Nidec plans to release the report later, in a version with partial redactions. It cited the protection of trade secrets of the group and its business partners, and personal privacy, as the reasons. The release gives no date beyond "promptly at a later date".
Nidec also said that, based on the report, it will deliberate on claims for damages and other legal measures, and will disclose the outcome as soon as it is decided. The notice announces no decision on whether to pursue anyone.
Nidec also said it would hold a board meeting and a meeting of its audit and supervisory committee on the same day, 16 October. Both bodies were to be briefed on the report, and the company planned to disclose its interim response.
