Nagano Keiki lifts profit guidance as semiconductor plant demand lifts pressure sensors

Nagano Keiki lifted its forecast operating profit for the year to March 2027 to ¥10bn from ¥6.8bn, saying pressure-sensor demand from semiconductor-related facilities rose sharply.

Nagano Keiki, the Tokyo-listed pressure-instrument maker, raised its operating-profit forecast for the year to March 2027 to ¥10bn from the ¥6.8bn it gave on May 13. The board approved the revision on October 23.

The revised numbers

Full-year sales are now forecast at ¥74.6bn, up from ¥67.5bn, an increase of 10.5%. The operating-profit increase is 47.1% against the earlier forecast. That is a comparison with prior guidance, not with last year's result. The company's reference figure for the year to March 2026 is operating profit of ¥6.98bn on sales of ¥67.69bn.

Ordinary profit is now forecast at ¥10.2bn, and profit attributable to owners of the parent at ¥7.1bn, or ¥375.81 per share. The previous forecasts were ¥6.4bn and ¥4.3bn.

The six months to September 30 were revised too. First-half operating profit is now forecast at ¥4.5bn, against the earlier ¥3.2bn, on sales of ¥36bn, against ¥33.2bn.

What management says is driving it

Nagano Keiki attributes the upgrade to the first half. In its pressure-gauge business, demand from industrial machinery and process industries was firm, and demand for semiconductor-industry products was strong. Demand from pneumatic-equipment makers rose in step, the company says.

In pressure sensors, the company says global semiconductor-related investment is booming, and demand for facility (plant ancillary equipment) uses rose sharply. It says profit is now expected to exceed the earlier forecast because sales were strong, centred on pressure sensors. The same reasoning applies to the full-year upgrade.

Limits

The notice does not give a segment breakdown or the size of the sensor contribution. The company also cautions that actual results may differ widely because of the economy, industry market conditions, raw material prices and exchange rates.

The demand attribution is management's own account of one supplier's orders. It is not a measure of the wider semiconductor cycle.
