Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings has told Japan's securities regulator it will add two new exchange-traded notes (ETNs) to its Tokyo-listed lineup: one tracking a basket of Japanese data-center infrastructure stocks, the other tracking a basket of Japanese defense stocks. Both are due to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on September 28, 2026, each with an issuance ceiling of ¥100bn.
| Series | Underlying index | TSE listing date | Issuance ceiling | Management fee | Maturity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Data-center infrastructure ETN | iSTOXX MUTB Japan Data Center-related Index (net return) | Sept 28, 2026 | ¥100bn | 0.85% | Sept 10, 2046 |
| Defense ETN | iSTOXX MUTB Japan Defense Index (net return) | Sept 28, 2026 | ¥100bn | 0.85% | Sept 10, 2046 |
The two series, filed as numbers 11 and 12 in a securities registration statement submitted to the Kanto Local Finance Bureau on September 2, track the iSTOXX MUTB Japan Data Center-related Index and the iSTOXX MUTB Japan Defense Index, both calculated on a net-return basis. Structurally they are trust beneficiary certificates backed by foreign-issued notes, with Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities acting as trust settlor, distributor and calculation agent, and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank and Japan Master Trust Bank serving as trustees.
The ¥100bn figure is a ceiling, not a sold amount. Units created before the September 28 listing go to an initial beneficiary without a public offering under this filing; the public subscription window that follows runs from listing day through September 28, 2027, and can be extended by filing a fresh registration before it lapses. Each note carries an annual management fee of 0.85% and matures on September 10, 2046, unless redeemed early.
The filing is the first submission covering these two products, and it lands on top of ten existing ETNs Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings has listed since 2020, spanning themes from women's-advancement scoring to European aerospace and defense and inbound-tourism consumption. The new pair gives Tokyo-listed investors a direct, if untested, wrapper for two of Japan's more actively discussed investment themes ahead of the September 28 listing.
