Lasertec's order book snapped back this year, but the shipments behind that backlog have not caught up yet, and the mismatch shows up starkly in the numbers.
For the year to June 2026, the maker of semiconductor inspection and photomask-checking tools reported consolidated revenue of ¥230.5bn, down 8.3% from a year earlier, and operating profit of ¥105.3bn, down 14.3%. Net profit attributable to shareholders fell 8.5% to ¥77.5bn. Management said the decline traces back to weak order intake the prior year finally working its way through to shipments.
Orders themselves told a different story. Lasertec booked ¥237.5bn of new orders during the year, more than double the ¥105.2bn taken a year earlier, as customers stepped up spending on CPUs, GPUs and high-bandwidth memory for AI data centers. Within the top line, sales of semiconductor-related equipment fell 17.2% to ¥168.1bn, while service revenue rose 36.5% to ¥58.6bn.
Management is now betting that the order recovery converts into shipments. Guidance for the year to June 2027 calls for revenue of ¥290.0bn, up 25.8%, operating profit of ¥125.0bn, up 18.8%, and net profit of ¥90.0bn, up 16.2%.
| Metric | Year to June 2026 (actual) | Year to June 2027 (forecast) |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | ¥230.5bn | ¥290.0bn |
| Operating profit | ¥105.3bn | ¥125.0bn |
| Net profit | ¥77.5bn | ¥90.0bn |
| Annual dividend per share | ¥329 | ¥351 |
The dividend follows the same script of confidence outrunning this year's results. The annual payout held at ¥329 per share despite the profit decline, and Lasertec is now planning to lift it to ¥351 per share next year, consistent with its policy of targeting a consolidated payout ratio near 35%.
The test now is whether the order backlog actually turns into the shipments management is forecasting, given how much of this year's revenue shortfall traced back to exactly that same lag a year earlier.
