Koei Tecmo Holdings raised its profit forecast for the six months ended 30 September 2026, and the size of the increase differs sharply by line. Operating profit is now guided at ¥11.5bn, against ¥7bn in the forecast issued on 27 April, a rise of ¥4.5bn or 64.3%.
Game sales drive the top of the account
The company now expects sales of ¥37bn, up ¥3bn or 8.8% from its earlier ¥34bn. In its revision notice, Koei Tecmo said sales of a large title released in the preceding fiscal year and of back-catalogue games were strong, and that this lifted the sales and operating-profit forecasts.
For comparison, the notice lists the same period a year earlier at ¥31.27bn of sales and ¥7.96bn of operating profit.
Investment returns lift the lower lines
The larger percentage jumps come further down the income statement. Ordinary profit is now forecast at ¥25bn, up from ¥12bn, a rise of 108.3%. Profit attributable to owners of the parent is forecast at ¥18bn, up from ¥9bn, a rise of 100%. Earnings per share for the period are forecast at ¥53.87, against an earlier ¥27.69.
The company attributes those two revisions to non-operating income and expenses. It said it is managing funds with an eye on financial-market trends and expects non-operating balance to exceed plan. The notice does not give a breakdown of that non-operating gain. For the same period a year earlier, the notice lists ordinary profit of ¥17.8bn and attributable profit of ¥13.5bn.
