GMO Internet's board approved on 19 October 2026 a fixed-asset purchase with a planned price of about ¥26.1bn, covering Nvidia B300 servers and a new data center in Ishikari, Hokkaido. The company's disclosure sets the timetable at August 2027, so this is a plan to add capacity, not capacity that exists today.

What GMO says it will buy

The asset is described as GPU servers carrying Nvidia's B300, "up to 116" units, plus a full set of ancillary facilities including data-center construction work. The 116 counts servers, not individual GPU chips. The planned price of about ¥26.1bn also covers peripheral equipment, so it is not a price for the servers alone.

GMO gives its reason as the supply position and demand for its "GMO GPU Cloud" service. It says it will add GPU chips and other equipment needed to run the service, and will build a data center to house the GPU servers.

Timetable and financial effect

The board resolution is dated 19 October 2026. Acquisition is planned sequentially from August 2027, and the notice gives no completion date for the data center.

GMO judges the effect on its consolidated results for the year ending December 2026 to be minor, and says it will disclose promptly anything further that needs disclosing. The notice does not say how the purchase will be funded.

The counterparty

The notice lists Nvidia Corporation, of Santa Clara, California, as the counterparty for development and manufacturing. It reports no capital, personnel or related-party ties between GMO and Nvidia. The trading relationship is a partner agreement under which GMO takes part in the NVIDIA Partner Network.

The notice names no customers and gives no contracted revenue for the new capacity. For earlier context, see Earlier Tokyo Brief coverage.
