AI Storm Pushes Earnings to November After Used-Truck Deal Probe Forces Three-Year Rewrite

A tip-off about past used-truck sales has widened into a three-fiscal-year accounting correction at AI storm, forcing the company to delay its quarterly results to November and consider a statutory filing extension while its auditor withholds sign-off.

AI storm CO.,LTD. told the Tokyo Stock Exchange on August 12 that it will not publish the second-quarter results it had scheduled for August 14. The new target date is November 13, three months later than planned. The company is also weighing whether to ask the Director-General of the Kanto Local Finance Bureau for an extension on the legally mandated deadline for its semi-annual report, which otherwise falls due the same week.

The cause traces back to a special investigation committee AI storm set up in May 2026, after an outside tip-off flagged what the company describes as "transactions that may not have been appropriate" in its past dealings with a business partner over used-truck sales. The committee, an advisory body under the audit and supervisory committee, is still working through the transaction records. Its interim finding, disclosed now, is blunt: accounting entries covering three consecutive fiscal years, the periods ended December 2023, December 2024 and December 2025, need correction.

That is not a one-line fix. Restated figures across three years also have to be re-reviewed and re-audited before the company can close its books for the current period, and its outside auditor has told AI storm it cannot deliver an interim review report in time for the original August 14 deadline. Rather than file incomplete or unreviewed numbers, the company chose to delay the earnings release outright and flag a possible statutory extension for the semi-annual filing itself.

What this means for the year now underway, the twelve months to December 2026, is still an open question. AI storm says it is examining the impact and will disclose it once that assessment is complete. The company has not stated a timeline for the special committee's final report, only that it expects to receive one and will act on it. Its statement to shareholders closes with an apology for the disruption and concern the delay has caused.

For readers outside Japan, the mechanics matter as much as the apology. A tip-off led to an internal probe; the probe widened into a three-year restatement; the restatement blocked a routine audit sign-off; and the audit gap forced a public disclosure delay, with a possible regulatory extension request layered on top. Each step is disclosed narrowly and factually, and AI storm has not characterized the underlying transactions as fraudulent, only as requiring correction. The company's next scheduled disclosure moment, the rescheduled results on November 13, will show how much of that three-year correction has actually been completed by then.
