Tomen Devices said sales for April to September 2026 rose 223.3% to ¥785.84bn, operating profit rose 359.6% to ¥37.54bn, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 425.5% to ¥25.11bn. Memory was ¥753.95bn of the total, or 95.9% of sales, against 80.2% a year earlier.
What the company credits
In its results briefing, Tomen Devices attributes the sales rise to continued price increases centred on general-purpose memory. It says profitability improved because memory prices rose more than it had assumed, and that margins ran above its expectations, though the margin slipped from the first quarter to the second as the pace of price increases narrowed. Server and storage products made up more than 80% of information-equipment sales, and automotive sales rose 485.8%. The company says higher memory prices cut smartphone shipments, and with them its sales of image sensors for overseas handsets; sales in its mobile-communications category fell 11.2%.
The financing bill
Total assets reached ¥572.73bn, up 66.0% from March. Inventory stood at ¥332.83bn against ¥221.52bn at March, which the company links to higher purchase prices and the need to secure volume. Short-term borrowings rose to ¥150.19bn from ¥118.57bn, and long-term borrowings of ¥31.47bn appeared where March showed none. The equity ratio fell to 14.0% from 17.2%.
Guidance unchanged
Full-year guidance from July 30 stands: sales of ¥1.4tn, operating profit of ¥48.9bn and net profit of ¥30bn. Interim net profit is 83.7% of the full-year net profit forecast, by the company's own progress measure.
Tomen Devices expects generative-AI products to keep memory demand going in the second half, but calls the outlook highly uncertain. It cites possible customer stockpiling ahead of price rises and possible buying restraint because of them. Its own price view is a small rise followed by a high plateau, and it calls forecasting very difficult.
