Baskin-Robbins Japan Sets a Sales Record, But Profit Slides on Costlier Ingredients
B-R 31 Ice Cream, which runs Baskin-Robbins in Japan, booked record first-half sales of ¥18.55bn on a 21st straight quarter of same-store growth, yet operating profit fell to ¥1.42bn from ¥1.70bn as raw-material costs, the weak yen, and heavier marketing and shipping bills ate into margins.
