Harajuku Police Station formally accepted a criminal complaint on July 20, 2026 against a former director of baby calendar Inc. (TSE Growth: 7363) who also served as chief financial officer and head of the management division. The charge is occupational embezzlement. baby calendar said it learned of the acceptance four days later, on July 24, through its proxy lawyer, and disclosed the matter the same day.
The former executive, who left the board when his term expired on March 28, 2025, allegedly set up a personal bank account as the receiving destination for advertising revenue owed to the company and diverted a total of ¥9.26mn from those inflows.
The complaint follows a special investigation committee report, published March 31, 2026, which found that the diversion of accounts receivable and cash took place amid serious deficiencies in baby calendar's control environment. The company said it takes seriously its responsibility as a listed issuer and pursued the criminal complaint to seek a formal investigation and appropriate punishment.
On recovery, baby calendar has a notarized debt acknowledgment and repayment agreement with the former executive covering the outstanding advertising-revenue funds, and says it will keep pursuing collection under that agreement. Separately, by June 30, 2026, the company had filed corrected prior-period securities reports and corrected prior-period earnings summaries reflecting the impact of the misconduct, and it disclosed earnings summaries for the year ended December 2025 and the first quarter of the year ending December 2026. On April 16, 2026, it published a plan for recurrence-prevention measures and internal-control improvements.
The disclosure addresses only the police's acceptance of the complaint. It does not say whether prosecutors will bring charges or address any court timeline.
